What does WOMBO do?

WOMBO is an AI entertainment company democratizing creativity 👽

Our first app WOMBO launched in March 2021. It has crossed 70 million downloads and users have created over 1 billion videos using the app.

We launched our second app Dream in November 2021 and it has close to 20 million downloads and over 300 million artworks created. We have proven to the world that we can produce ultra-viral content creation tools. The next chapter of our company is transitioning from tools to full-fledged platforms.

Where is WOMBO located (Can I work remote)?

Yes, we hire talent from anywhere in the world. ~70% of our team is located in Toronto, where we have an office space. But we have employees located in California, Texas, Thailand etc.

What’s the interview process like?

We’ll likely do a quick 30-minute phone call just to make sure we’re on the same page. After that, we’d love to work on a process together that feels fair.

Generally, there are two options:

1. Our preferred situation is that we get to work together for several weeks on a project (of course, we’d pay you whatever you think is fair). Often working together for a bit is a great way to determine whether there’s a good match as future teammates and it can give you a lot of transparency. We understand, however, that’s not always possible for everyone. (4 weeks).
2.
2. A formal but practical interview--no trick/puzzle questions (1-3 hours)

What is work/life balance like at your company?

We usually leave work around 6 PM to have dinner with friends or family. As an early stage startup, we don’t want to hide this reality to prospective candidates: raw hours make a big difference in the impact we can make right now. This won’t always be the case but it is at present.

We often find ourselves working later on in the evening and on the weekend, but it’s mostly driven by personal ambition. We don’t have any expectations of anyone to do so.

Have you raised any money?

Yes - we have raised 7 million dollars in funding

Some of our investors include Josh Buckley, Global Founders Capital, Ashton Kutcher's Sound Ventures and Guy Oseary

Where is WOMBO HQ? Can I come work out of the office?

WOMBO HQ is inthe King/Spadina area in Toronto. We love to invite prospective candidates to the office so they can meet our team and get a better sense of what working at WOMBO is like :)

What’s the technical stack that you’re working on?

We are using Python for our back-end, Swift for iOS and Kotlin for Android
